The question of whether an individual can be held responsible for ignorance of the circumstances of their actions significantly impacts the determination of acquittal or conviction ifor crimes such as terrorism, rape, drug trafficking, and money laundering. Ignorance can even be a ground for convictions for crimes against humanity, and the same reasoning applies to accountability within corporations or military groups.
